Austin City Limits is perhaps the best known music venue in town however there are numerous others in and around Austin. Most of them are extremely great clubs as Austin seems to produce copious amounts of interesting musicians. The Cactus Café – 2247 Guadalupe St. Austin, TX
The Cactus Café is quaint venue located at the UT student union. Although primarily for students it is open to the public. The Cactus Café has been around since 1979 and features acoustic music only but it also offers a full bar with performances from local, national, and international acts.

Emo’s – 603 Red River St. Austin, TX
This small downtown music club with a large outdoor state and a smaller indoor stage. There is a small beer garden as well for those who don’t like to be thrust in the middle of the mix. The club features alternative music and indie rock and also hosts national and local acts. Most of the crowds are tattooed and on some nights there are some intense shows with major mosh pits.

The Parish Room – 214 E, 6th St Austin, TX
The Parish Room is a very hip venue in downtown Austin. Its clean well-kept with excellent acoustics and beautiful hardwood floors. The club opens its doors to all music genres, opting not to be genre-specific, although most artists that play tend to be indie rock artists.

Momo’s – 618 W. 6th St. #200 Austin, TX
Far more intimate than most music venues in Austin, TX this lounge and music club features live music every single night of the week. Depending on which night you choose to go you can hear anything from R&B to pop rock. You can sit at the bar just feet away from the musicians or enjoy a drink and listen to the music from afar on the deck underneath the beautiful Austin, TX midnight sky.

Lucky Lounge – 209 W. 5th St. Austin, TX
The Lucky Lounge is a 60s inspired club with an extremely chic feel. It features a variety of seating options from bar stools, to lounge chairs and seats in front of the stage. There is even a loft area overlooking the club. With pool tables and local musicians the club is definitely a fun place to be.

Bass Concert Hall – 23rd St. & Robert Dedman Dr. Austin, TX
Another one of the music venues associated with the University of Texas, The Bass Concert Hall is the flagship of arts performance for the university. It features a huge concert hall for symphonies and dance performances but there are also concerts from major music acts. Operating like a traditional theatre there is ticketed seating.

Continental Club -1315 S. Congress Ave. Austin, TX
The Continental Club has been a staple of the Austin, Texas music scene since 1957. While it began as a hip private club it eventually grew into Austin’s first burlesque club in the 1960s. After booking numerous great acts over the decades well into the late 80s it was bought by a new owner who decided to take the club back to its roots with a 1950s theme. It welcomes many great local acts and a variety of genres.
